PRACTICE TEST AND TRAINING TEST
Smarter Balanced recommends that all students have an opportunity to experience both the practice test and the training test. These tools provide students with a testing situation similar in format and structure to the Smarter Balanced assessments (practice test) and an opportunity to focus on the assessment system’s functionality and user interface (training test).

- Click "Practice Tests"
- Click "sign in" on the new page that opens (do not change any of the pre-filled fields).
-Select the student's grade (don't change anything else).
-Click "YES".

It is recommended that students take the Practice Test, Training Test, and Performance Task to experience all aspects of the test.

SAMPLE SUMMATIVE ITEMS FROM ODE
Covering all possible item types (selected response, constructed response, extended response, technology enhanced, and performance tasks), these samples include student items, as well as sample student responses and evaluation rubrics where appropriate. Educators can use these items to get an idea of how to design tasks that will prepare students for the Smarter Balanced Assessment. http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=3747

WHAT IS A PERFORMANCE TASK

Students will participate in a "Classroom Activity" before administration of the Performance Task (PT). The Classroom Activity must be pre-assigned and
communicated to school staff prior to administration. Consequently, the
"Classroom Activity" cannot be assigned to the student in “real time.” We are waiting for more direction to virtual schools from the Oregon Department of Education as to what this will look like.
