Will
is the newest member of the teaching staff, and he comes to us from the
State of California, where he worked for charter schools on distance
learning programs for the last 10 years. He has a B.A. in Theater Arts,
and a Master's in Teaching Elementary Education. He thoroughly enjoys
working with families on creating an atmosphere where the love of
learning and life-long learning are central. As an avid traveler, he's
developed a great respect for the role experiences play in the growth of
knowledge and ability within everyone. He's looking forward to a new
beginning at Paisley DLP, and to a wonderful school year.
Personal Interests:
Aside
from the aforementioned travel, Will enjoys reading, movies, gardening,
and working with the animals on his family's ranch. He likes problem
solving and can get really attached to crossword puzzles. His move to
Oregon will allow him the ability to enjoy exploring his new state.
Educational Philosophy:
Everyone is different, and that applies to the way everyone learns as well. We should treat everyone like snowflakes: get to know them, and apply what you learn, to help them learn. The best
thing anyone can do for a student is to engage them in a way that
inspires them to learn how to learn...the knowledge will develop on its
own.
All should welcome failure as a learning experience, and not fear it as a weakness.
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
