Melinda Bond, Teacher

Melinda Bond
2022-23 is my 11th year of teaching with Paisley. I graduated from Northwest Christian University in 2003.  I am endorsed and highly qualified to teach K-8 grades. I also have my masters in education. I have planned interactive thematic lessons based on state standards; prepared students for Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests; developed and modified curriculum based on data of student assessments; participated in student intervention teams for K-4; collaborated on speech, academic, and behavioral IEPs; organized field trips based on thematic units; and leveraged technologies to enhance educational content.

I began working at Paisley during the 2012-13 school year. I love the students, staff and families I get to work with. Teaching is my passion and I am eager to see students thrive in the unique experiences and environment that Paisley has to offer.

I am a goal-driven, professional educator with excellent communication skills and a dedicated commitment to the social and academic development of every student. I  am accommodating and versatile, with the talent to leverage technology to develop inspiring interactive lessons that will capture a child's imagination and breed success. I am extremely flexible, ensuring that every child's learning styles and abilities are addressed.

I am a mother of three beautiful children and love spending time with family. I love to cook and you might easily find my nose in a recipe book when I'm not working. I also love to sew as well. I enjoy reading all kinds of books and if you came over to my house, you would find quite the variety. I tend to read several at once that cover quite the range of topics.

Here are a couple of my favorite educational quotes:

"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
― Plutarch

“Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”
―
Plato
